Recently, in Brazil, they have been putting a lot of effort into farmer education and technology development to improve the quality of their coffees and get closer to the premium coffee market. One of the pioneers of this movement is Fazenda Ecoagricola. It is located in the state of Minas Gerais, which is responsible for more than 50% of Brazil's coffee production. The northern part of the state is known as the Chapada de Minas region, which also includes the Serra do Cabral plateau at 1,100 meters above sea level. The Flanzer family began to cultivate this remote land in the 1970s through forestry. In 2006, they started growing coffee. The farm has maintained high standards of sustainability in coffee cultivation over the years. It also includes a nature reserve where wild animals live. The Flanzer family also runs a nursery of native trees and seedlings for their own forests and supplies the surrounding villages and towns with seedlings. Their state-of-the-art coffee growing system uses precision farming technology to fertilize and irrigate the coffee fields. Thanks to this intensive and careful work, Ecoagricola has already received many awards, such as the best coffee of Brazil by "Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee" in 2017 and the first place in the Cup of Excellence Brazil 2019.
